Coffee

Norma on the Pest side of Budapest has great coffee and pastry. Norma on the Buda side has lost of seating and great bread and pastries but I do not recommend their coffee.

Caphe by Hai Nam brings a little slice of Vietnam to Budapest, serving up some Vitenamese breakfasts.

Kelet Café is a cozy little spot where books line the walls and good coffee fuels even better conversations. A mix of local charm and international flavors, it’s the perfect place to start your day—or get lost in a novel over a chai latte.

Sweets

Pampushka is a donut shop, I’ve never been because it is new but it looks really good.

In a tiny shop Artigiana Gelati has the best home made ice creams!

Central Café has been serving coffee and conversation since 1887. Once a favorite spot for writers and poets, it still has that old-world charm. Stop by for a slice of Dobos cake and a taste of Budapest’s literary past!

Bathe

Rudas Thermal Bath was built by the Turks in 1566 and still has a strikingly Islamic style. Heads up! They have separate men’s and women’s days, so check the schedule before you go.

Gellért Thermal Bath is the picture of elegance, with stained glass windows, grand columns, and Art Nouveau charm. The indoor pools feel like stepping into a palace, while the outdoor wave pool is a fun surprise. A perfect spot to relax and pretend you’re royalty for the day!

Széchenyi Thermal Bath is the largest and most famous bath in Budapest, with bright yellow neo-Baroque buildings and steaming outdoor pools. You’ll find locals playing chess in the water and plenty of spots to soak and unwind. Bring a swimsuit and enjoy!

Shops

Retrock has vintage and new boutique brands both from Hungary and elsewhere.

Komondors Vintage Shop, Café & Bar is a hidden gem where vintage treasures, good coffee, and craft cocktails come together. Whether you’re hunting for a unique find, sipping an espresso, or enjoying a laid-back drink, this spot has a little bit of everything—plus a cool, eclectic vibe that feels like stepping into a stylish time capsule.

Walk

In the hills of Normafa you can try the Libegő, walk to the János Hegyi Kilátő or stroll the surrounding wooded areas.

Margit Sziget is the island on the Danube (Duna) where you can go for a walk, jog, or picnic. There are several smaller attracktions here like a small wild life park with chickens, ducks, and our beloved crane the gólya.

Walk up Gellért-hegy for a satisfiying view of the city.
